About 70 kilometers west of Sarajevo, not far from the town of Fojnica, is a true natural jewel – Prokoško Lake.
After we arrive to town Fojnica our journey will continue on the off-roading forested 4×4 drive, with amazing natural wonders all the way till we reach edge of cliff with beautiful view at Prokoško Lake.
Located up on Mount Vranica, at 1,636 meters above sea level, the lake and its surroundings serve as an ideal destination for those who want to spend a day in wonderful nature.
The surface of the lake covers an area of 0.5 square kilometers; it’s 426 meters long, 191 meters wide and, while it has an average depth of about six meters, it’s deepest point reaches 13 meters.
Several crystal clear mountain springs flow into this glacial lake and an endemic salamander species is also found here.
It is not a surprise when our guests get a feeling that they arrived at Swiss Alpes instead to Bosnia.
The best period to visit Prokoško Jezero in the spring, summer or autumn, as it’s very difficult to access during the winter months.
There are katuni, wooden cabins which provide a resting place for shepherds, all along the shore of the lake and it’s possible to spend the night in these lodgings, as they also offer traditional food and drinks.
The lake is a popular destination for mountain bikers and one can collect mushrooms, berries and medicinal herbs in the surrounding area.
With our 4×4 SUV we can off road drive all the way to the top of Amazing Mountain Peaks from where we will enjoy in stunning views at Prokoško Lake and at all Bosnia&Herzegovina mountains.
Also for all guest who like hiking, there is a beautiful hiking trail to the top of mountain peak.
After hiking and off-roading drive we will adjust a time for lunch, where we will finally enjoy in taste traditional Bosnian food, coffee and mountain tea.
Later in late afternoon hours we will drive back to Sarajevo, hole tour it will be adjusted to our guests so arrival and return back it will be flexible in the best way, so that our guest can enjoy as maximum as possible.
